Baptist Training Union (BTU) AL Shelton, Director

The Baptist Training Union is another source of Christian Education in our church. In BTU, we train members to serve in the various positions and functions of the church. Many members of our Training Union are participants on out Street Mission Team. Our BTU participates in the district and state Sunday School and BTU Congress. Mt. Zion's BTU has won several first and second place trophies in District Congress rallies. BTU meets each Sunday evening at 5:00 PM unless the church has another program or fellowship scheduled.

 

Sunday School Lawrence Hearn, Superintendent

Our Sunday School is the primary source of Christian Education for our Church. Every age group in the church is represented. Sunday School meets each Sunday at 9:30 AM.

Mission Auxiliary        

The Mission Auxiliary consists of the Senior Mission, Matrons. Junior Mission, and Brotherhood Auxiliaries.

Senior Mission Arbetries Johnson, President

The Senior Mission auxiliary provides a beneficial outreach for church, providing food and clothing to various needy missions in San Diego. Such missions include the San Diego Rescue Mission and Rachel Battered Women Center.

The Senior Mission is made up of the following Circles: Charity, Deborah, Esther, Faith, Lydia, Naomi, Rachel, Rebekah, and Ruth.

 

Matrons Joyce Winans, President

The Matrons auxiliary supports all areas of the church. They provided a needed means of fellowship for women looking for spiritual growth, organized involvement, and charitable pursuits.

 

                 Street Mission

Junior Mission Cynitha Silvels, President

The Junior Mission auxiliary calls for women, not yet of Matron or Senior Mission age, to come together, share experiences, study the Word of God, and contribute to the Mission directives of our church.

 

Brotherhood James Robinson, President

The Brotherhood is an organization of men that under gird the whole program of the church. Their Motto:

Teach the Word in the home

            With a consecrated heart,

            Following in the footsteps of the Savior

            Leading all men to God

Our Youth Department is growing and evolving as its members grow and evolve into Christians dedicated to the progress of the church and the cause of Christ. The Youth are involved many activities such as, bible study, cooking classes, computer classes, and youth retreats.
